Botanical Description

More robust than H. nobilis, to 15cm or more in height. The larger leaves have each lobe with a few deep crenations or minor lobes. Flowers up to 4cm wide, composed of about eight or nine tepals, usually purple to lavender-blue but pink and white forms are known, also doubles. Central Romania, in mountainous coniferous woods. H.t. 'Ada Scott' is a fine vigorous selection with deep blue flowers.
