Eryngium planum 'Blue Hobbit'

Common Name: Sea Holly

Sea Holly is adored by florists for its unique and long lasting, purplish blue, spiny flowers which add interesting color and texture to bouquets.  They are produced on silvery blue stems and just above the basal rosette of blue-green, deeply toothed, smooth textured leaves.

'Blue Hobbit' is the first genetically produced dwarf Eryngium, standing only 8-12" tall in full bloom.  The numerous flowers completely cover the foliage in midsummer.

Its compact habit makes this plant the perfect size for combination containers or the front of the landscape.

This species of Eryngium is one of the hardiest and it has proven to be a reliable, long-lived perennial.
