Viola jooi, the Transilvanian violet: an acaulescent, limestone loving species, endemic of the Carpathian Mts. (Romania, Ukraine); a new population was also described from NE Serbia
Ah, shame – I garden on acid shale, all clay and boulders. Will have to forego that little treasure!
Subsoil here is also clay; gardening on raised beds mostly, otherwise I couldn’t grow many things.
