This BMW Isetta got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1959 BMW Isetta 300 was acquired by the seller in 2019 and subsequently underwent a mechanical and interior refurbishment. Finished in red and white over a red vinyl interior, the car is powered by a 298cc single-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Work in the past 18 months is said to have included an engine re-ring and valve job, a transmission overhaul, fuel system refurbishment, windshield replacement, and new carpeting. This Isetta 300 is offered with a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was reportedly repainted in red and white approximately 15 years ago, and the windshield was replaced under current ownership. The car is equipped with aluminum window trim and side moldings, tubular overriders on the front and rear, and a white, newly replaced vinyl foldable sunroof which can be seen in the open and closed positions in the gallery. The seller notes several blemishes on the body pictured in the gallery below.

The recently repainted 10″ wheels wear polished aluminum hubcaps with BMW roundels, and are wrapped in newer Nankang 5.20-10 tires. Braking is provided by hydraulic drums located at the front corners and at the right rear wheel. The rear wheel cylinder and dampers were reportedly replaced under current ownership.

The gearshift is located to the driver’s left, and a three-spoke steering wheel is mounted ahead of a 60-mph speedometer flanked by three warning lights. The steering wheel, knobs, and controls are said to have been refurbished under current ownership, and the five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, 50 of which were added by the seller.

The air-cooled 298cc single-cylinder engine is located behind a removable panel on the right side of the car, and was reportedly replaced under previous ownership. It was originally rated at 13 horsepower and 13.6 lb-ft of torque. A valve job, cylinder re-ring, and engine re-seal are said to have been performed under current ownership, and new engine mounts, generator/starter brushes, and ignition condenser and points were installed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission which was reportedly overhauled under current ownership with a new clutch, bearings, and drive flex joints. The fuel tank is also said to have been relined and repainted. Additional underbody pictures are shown in the gallery, and videos featuring the car can be seen below.
