Potsize – 1L
Codonopsis clematidea. Bonnet Bellflower. A charming delight is hidden inside these lovely china blue bells when the nodding flowers are lifted and inspected. Inside they are intricately marked with bright orange, black and green. The foliage is soft and grey and curiously scented and forms a good clump about 50cm high. For a well drained, but not dry, humus rich soil, sited in sun or shade. Ideally they would like to scramble through small twiggy shrubs for additional support. From the Greek, ‘kodon’ = bell and ‘opsis’ = appearance.
