Stephan Abel Sinding, "Idyll in May". Late 19th/early 20th c., signed on the plinth, alabaster, nude lovers, she sitting with shy lowered gaze, he lying behind her with an arm around her in a loving gesture, looking into her face with an inquiring look, on irregular rock plinth, a hairline crack in the area of the lady's thighs to the plinth, normal signs of age, h total ca. 22 cm, l 33 cm. Artist info: Danish-Norwegian sculptor (1846 Trondheim to 1922 Paris), brother of the composer Christian Sinding, studied philosophy and law in Christiania in 1865, then turned to sculpture, from 1871 in Berlin as a student of Albert Wolff, most important work "Mother Earth (Moder Jord)", which is placed in the courtyard of the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen.
