Digitalis Grandiflora (Ambigua), also known as large yellow fox glove is a clump forming, evergreen perennial which has dark green, leathery leaves in rossettes. In May and June the Digitalis Grandiflora (Ambigua) produces these lovely tall spires of creamy yellow, bell shaped flowers.
A cottage garden favourite due to its shade of yellow, this perennial is also a bee friendly favourite, attracting our popular friends to the garden. Many gardeners, plant the Digitalis in a flower bed or border with a mix of other plants, the soft shade allows this to naturally mix in other colours and not look out of place.
Digitalis Grandiflora (Ambigua) care
The Digitalis Grandiflora (Ambigua) likes a partially shaded area although will cope in a sunny location and almost any soil condition except extreme wet or extremely dry soils. This perennial will require some pruning which includes cutting back the flower spikes once they begin fading. By doing so, you will encourage a more vigorous healthy growth and often more side shoots on flower spikes.
