About This File

NOTAM: This aircraft is deprecated, and no more further update nor support will be provided. The aircraft should (sort of) work in X-Plane 12, but no official update will be provided.

This is the Boeing 747SP I uploaded a long time ago. I decided to continue this project (despite I'm not really a plane designer).

Background about the 747SP:

The Boeing 747SP is a shortened 747-100 used to compete with DC-10 and Lockheed L-1011. It has a shortened airframe but a longer range. The engine option modeled here (credit to @Turboblazer Studios) is the Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7 model. It has the service ceiling of FL450 and maximum range of 6,650 nmi.

BONUS:

I've also added a 747ASB variant, or Advanced Short Body variant, which is a shortened 747-400 used to replace the 747SP. However, it was never produced. This is an experimental model, which I did nothing more other than switching the wings and engines into a 747-400 model. More updates will come on this one, including recalibrated engine parimeters, wingtip physical models, etc. It shares the same fuselage as the SP, so all liveries for the SP are compatible with the ASB. Specific liveries for the ASB will follow after I finish the aircraft itself.

I'd like to thank Laminar Research for allowing me to use the cabin and cockpit. I'd also like to thank @DiboAlShams for granting me the permissions to use his fuselage.

THIS AIRCRAFT HAS A DEFAULT 747-400 COCKPIT. However, as I'm no expert to 3D modeling, so I cannot guarantee an analog cockpit. I do apologize for the lack of realism there. The same applies to the tail, which I am aware that it's a bit off but I can't help with anything there either due to my lack of skills on 3D modeling.

I've changed some physic settings on the 747SP to make it more accurate, including aircraft basic model, wing locations, engine parameters, etc. However, I only have data published on networks, for I am no real-world pilot. Therefore, helps from real-life is much appreciated.

As a livery designer, another major thing I did was to include as many 747SP liveries as possible. I've also tweaked the window positions and other visual enhancements. I also included a brand new paintkit, with all parts explained, to help other livery makers painting their own liveries. If you are not a livery maker and you want an extra livery, feel free to private message me on forum. I'm always opened to requests on the SP.

Alternatively, you can also join my discord server found here: https://discord.gg/RxFeu3xp5Y. Yes, it is dedicated to liveries more, but I will also post some updates on this aircraft sometimes. Once again, I can't promise anything like a full 3D cockpit, or any fix on the exterior 3D model. Thanks for your understanding!

If you would love to lend a helping hand on the project, please PM me or find me on Discord.

If you like my work, please donate and help keeping my workshop going: paypal.me/xpfwshare. Many thanks!!

P.S.: I'd like to thank the forum members who pointed out the copyright issue from the last 747SP. You've taught me a lesson. Thank you so much.

Best Model EVER The exterior is so realistic and for some reason i find it HELLA CUTE but the interior is a bit too modern

Overall Really Great Aircraft

Response from the author:

Yes that is true! The interior is still the default -400, as I am not in the expert position to make her a new cockpit... but hopefully it will fill in the hole of the 747 collection!

This is very nice, thanks 😁

I do hope you or others will develop it a little further too.. An analogue cockpit would be great as would a bit of PBR on the shiny surfaces. Well done

An absolute blast to fly. I copied the FMOD sounds from the msparks 747 and used them with this aircraft and they work like a charm (excluding most switch sounds). Keep up the great work my friend.
