Habbo announces new items alongside Pride Festival to celebrate LGBTQ+ rights

It may be July, but that doesn’t mean we should all just magically change our logos overnight and pretend the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t exist. And it seems like Habbo got that memo too, because the Habbo Pride Festival – an event that lets LGBTQ+ players earn badges and take part in fun mini-quests – is going to look even better thanks to a new range of pride-orientated items.

Habbo (formerly known as Habbo Hotel) originally released back in 2000, allowing people from all over the world to meet up in a hotel setting and get to know one another. It has led to long-lasting friendships amongst players and even helped some LGBTQ+ members explore their sexuality without fear of repercussion from the real world. So it feels extra nice for Habbo to include pride-related items alongside this year’s Pride Festival.

This new update will add new clothing, hairstyles, and even some furniture. Habbo residents wanting to shake up their – and their pad’s – look will get access to items like a new Pride Flag furniture item. It has seven different variants, such as the lesbian and trans flag, and if that isn’t good enough for you then you’re going to be stoked to know that there are goodie bags with rare items involved, too.

Here are some of the items that you can expect with this update, though be warned, some are just too cute for words.

Sulake is the company behind Habbo and has openly spoken out about the new update, as well as the LGBTQ+ community within their game.

“We’re excited for Habbo users to be able to embrace their identity within the game and show off their pride! It is humbling to think that Habbo is a safe space where users are comfortable sharing their true identities without fear of rejection,” said Sulake CEO, Valtteri Karu. “The new update shows our continued commitment to LGBT+ rights, something that is extremely important to us as a company.”

Habbo is accessible via the game’s official website and is completely free to play, so if you’re looking for a new place to hang out, then go ahead and sign up today!
