Tell Me More...
Calamintha grandiflora is an aromatic herb for floral and culinary lovers alike, Commonly known as Large-Flowered Calamint. Calamint has a sweet lightly minty aroma, and a medicinal and refreshing infusion can be made from the dried leaves. Calamintha grandiflora forms neat, bushy mounds of aromatic green foliage, which is topped by stems of pretty, rose-pink blooms in summer and early autumn. This is much loved by bees. Perfect planted in a herb garden or in a container near the kitchen, so the foliage can be used to in marinades to flavour meats, or for flavouring a sweet, relaxing and aromatic tea. Happy in either borders or containers, Calamintha is very drought tolerant, preferring to be grown in well-drained soil in sun, Being a fully hardy perennial, it is easy to grow and low maintenance, and can be left outside overwinter to enjoy during summer for years to come
