Aquilegia atrata for sale in a 14 cm pot, commonly known as Black Colombina, is a perennial plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. Aquilegia Atrata reaches a height of between 30 and 60 centimetres. The leaves are compound and dark green in color. They have a slightly lobed shape and are arranged along the stems. One of the distinctive features of this species are the unusual black-purple flowers. The flowers are bell-shaped and have elongated spurs protruding from the back of the corolla. Flowering occurs from spring to early summer. Columbine Atrata grows well in partially shaded locations. In cooler areas, it can tolerate full sun. It prefers well-drained soil and can thrive in a variety of soil types. Black Columbine is a popular ornamental plant in perennial gardens, mixed beds or rock gardens. It can also be grown in pots. It is a rustic and resistant plant, capable of withstanding cold temperatures.
