Leaves and Beaches …Socks

It must be because spring has sprung, although it doesn’t feel like it here on South West Shore of Nova Scotia. Cold NW winds making it feel like -10C, but like we say, it will change ( I say not soon enough LOL)

Enough about the weather lol I started Ragged Beach Socks this past Saturday and had knit a few rows past the cuff. I’m now up past the heel and starting the foot. These are a fast knit and I love the way they look. Patons Kroy Socks yarn in “coastal Stripes” looks cool in this pattern.

Even the heel stitches lined up perfectly with the colour change 🙂 Bonus ! There are so many gorgeous sock patterns in the Saltwater Socks book, I want to knit them all! And I think I have the yarn stash to do it too LOL

I’m sure most knitters have more than 1 knitting project on the go at one time and I always do. At least 1 that’s easy to knit when there are distractions around , like while I’m watching TV and my 2 Chi guys wrestling under my elbow (Stewie and Copper , rolling my eyes!) 😉 I also love a more challenging knit like stranded knitting or lace work, so as I’m going through my stash for the next knit I find a ball of Opal in Plum ..”Oh yea. I forgot about you” I say ” I know just the pattern for you”. Embossed Leaves Socks from “Favorite Socks” book (not the socks on the cover although I think I’ll be knitting this pattern next !! 🙂 I love the cuff!

Most patterns for lace are in chart form and I like to have the pattern written out so I keep a knitting journal / notebook so I can write out the pattern, It makes more sense to me 🙂 Anyone else need to have the instructions written out or do you prefer to use the chart?

Happy knitting or which ever craft makes you happy….Izzie

  1. Love it when a colour change magically synchs up with the pattern!

I like things written – I can follow a chart no bother for colour work, but for cables and lace I much prefer it in writing. Otherwise I’m constantly looking back at the key then losing my place and re-counting the row. Nobody needs that.

  2. I agree. I find I’m counting the knit stitches and I could be knitting them, Cable and colour aren’t a problem for me either. I’m on my third journal of knitting notes and always refer back to them.
