About Magnus Muhr
Magnus Muhr, 40, is a quirky photographer from the small Swedish town of Karlskoga. He works as a caregiver for the mentally ill and photographs nudes and nature in his free time. Muhr got the idea to use flies in art when he was at a party one evening several years ago. While on a walk to get some fresh air, Muhr came across a dead fly and the idea immediately came to him.
"When I got home I put some flies in comic poses on white paper, then drew the legs and background with a pencil and photographed them" said Muhr.
"I think they've become popular as they are very simple and don't need any text, the language is international and the humour alludes to human feelings and activities."
Muhr says he never kills the flies but rather likes to repurpose the carcases to allow them to take on a new life. He uses tiny tweezers to position the insects in place and has already made 25 different pictures and sells them for 40 Euros each.
