German photographer, she opens a studio in Munich then Berlin. From 1925, she settles in Paris. His interest in the industrial world earned him the nickname "Iron Valkyrie". Influenced by photographer Lazlo Moholy-Nagy, she frequents the surrealists and the Bauhaus. Friend of Malraux and activist for the left, his political positions made him leave France at the armistice of 1940. She thus stayed in Brazil then from 1942 joins Brazzaville, capital of French Equatorial Africa. She heads the photography service of France Libre and produces propaganda reports on production activities in French Equatorial Africa..
From 1947, she moved to Asia and became the first hotel manager in Bangkok.
In 1967, André Malraux, then minister of culture, dedicates an exhibition to him at the Palais de Chaillot.
