Fairy Lanterns (Disporum smithii)
Sometimes called Smith’s Fairy Bells, these are closely related to Hooker’s Fairy Bells. The main difference between the two is the elongated shape of the flowers here. Also, this species occurs more often in coastal settings. We saw them at Cascade Head and Lookout Point along the coast in late April, and lots at Silver Falls State Park in early May.
We have Hooker’s here, but these are even prettier!
