The Garfield Movie First Look: See Chris Pratt as the Iconic 'Monday-Hating' Orange Cat (Exclusive)

'The Garfield Movie' is in theaters May 24

Get ready for a new Garfield adventure.

On Monday (the iconic cat's least favorite day of the week) Sony debuted first look images exclusively with PEOPLE from The Garfield Movie, the upcoming animated film starring Chris Pratt.

As a synopsis teases, the "world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat is about to have a wild outdoor adventure."

The film's cast of voices also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén and Bowen Yang.

"After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father — scruffy street cat Vic (Jackson) — Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist," per the synopsis.

The Garfield Movie is directed by Mark Dindal, who also made 2005's Chicken Little and 2000's The Emperor's New Groove. The screenplay is by Paul A. Kaplan, Mark Torgove and David Reynolds, based on the famous Jim Davis characters.

When Pratt was confirmed as the voice of the cartoon cat back in November 2021, the actor wrote on Instagram, "Well this Monday doesn’t suck…."

Earlier this year, Pratt voiced the lead role in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, an animated video game adaptation that went on to earn over $1 billion at the box office. He also lent his voice to two LEGO Movies and Pixar's Onward.
