Rudbeckia hirta 'Dakotaâ„¢ Red Shield'
Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
'Tojen' is one of the earliest flowering Toad Lilies. An excellent choice for its beautiful, unspotted, orchid-like blooms that are white and tinged with purple on the ends; flowers in clusters on the tips of the stems. The leaves are some of the largest of the Toad Lilies, and are lance-shaped and arching, with a ladder-like arrangement. Grows in slowly spreading clumps, but won't become invasive. Great late-flowering plant for shady areas, and highly rated by the Chicago Botanic Garden. Toad Lilies are a staff favorite here!

Homeowner Growing Tips: Plant where the details of the flowers can be seen up close. Grow in full or partial shade, in moist, well-drained soil; do not allow to dry out. Amend with compost before planting. Mulch for the winter in cold climates. Divide in early spring before growth resumes, if needed. Sprouts late, so you may want to mark where you plant these.
