It has come to my knowledge that blogging about food is a normal thing to do. Let me present my meal of the day; Smalahove! *tadaaaa*
“Smalahove” is a traditional norwegian dish that naturally tastes like “Pinnekjøtt” (also a norwegian awesome dish with divine salty falour) The skin and fleece of the head is torched, the brain removed, and the head is salted, sometimes smoked, and dried. I grew accustomed to this delicacy when I lived in Voss, Norway. Some might find this disgusting, and that’s fair enough. Mind you, vikings are not easily scared, and one is wise to use most of the animal. Crazy crazy norwegians.
Have you ever tried Smalahove?

I’m a veggie, plus I find stuff like that difficult – that’s because I’m weak and unworthy of your viking presence haha :0)
Nat: By Balders Beard! I never said that people who are vegetarians are “unworthy of my viking prescence”. People can eat whatever they want, and so can I :O)
I will eat pretty much anything as long I can skip the eyes. 😉 Looks super tasty!
My wife eats pork brains but the head would be a first for the both of us 🙂
I’d eat it. Looks good to me.
I don’t mind eating that. 😀
I’d like to try something new and awesome since my tastebuds craves for every food that I’m both familiar and unfamiliar with. I lived in a country where our food varies from “it looks so yummy, i’ll have that~!” to “wow, so “exotic” & weird, I think it’s inedible!” by people from the far west and even find it hard to eat some of our delicacies eventhough our food was nothing more but a normal food colored with spices & unfamiliar ingredients in the eyes of the westerns except it looks just too weird & sometimes disgusting to them to eat it. (sigh 😦 ) I guess it’s just human nature for us to be “weird out” with another’s culture that we’re not familiar of.
I want to travel around the world someday and one of the places might be or will be Norway. I’d like to try different delicacies there. As long as it’s food, I’m in. Hopefully I could meet you someday queen of the vikings. 🙂
– Love lots~!
Curious wanderer from the far East.
I find you absolutely exquisite.
Oh my! Thank you so much for these words, David!
I’m not really convinced that a girl that looks that good would eat something that looks like that. You’re going to have to do better than a picture of a plate. Sorry.
It is a picture of Smalahove ON a plate. I ate the whole sheep’s head. Yummy.
I would love to try this dish! Although, I might wash it down with a bit more mead than just the one glass 😉
I wouldn’t think there would be much meat on a head.
