Olympic breakfaster Anne Rimmen would go on to give the Norwegian votes for the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo three months after the Olympics

The Norwegians never do things by halves – that’s why no matter what the event wherever in the world, the familiar sky blue NRK microphone will be seen.

So despite an expensive year that will take in the World Cup, the European Athletics Championships and an Oslo-staged NRK-organised Eurovision Song Contest, Norwegian television’s going the whole hog.

Of NRK’s three TV channels, there’s live action on two of them (NRK1 and NRK2) from 1800 each day until 0600 the following morning, with the live action on NRK2 continuing until 0930, allowing chief channel NRK1 to provide an Olympic breakfast programme from 0600 to 0900, presented from Vancouver by Anne Rimmen. As if that wasn’t enough, there are rolling highlights on NRK1 from 0900 to 1700.

Following the 80-minute teatime block of news that prevents Norway’s first channel from being a dedicated 24-hour all-Olympic network, it’s into another long night of live Vancouver action fronted by Karen-Marie Ellefsen.

Oh, and there are NINE live streams on the NRK website for Norwegian fans to follow the Games at work or from their laptop.

Don’t you wish you were Norwegian?
