Michael Nyqvist and Famke Janssen will star in the independent thriller “Every Good Boy Does Fine,” with shooting set to begin in July.

Producers are Jana Edelbaum and Rachel Cohen of iDeal Partners Film Fund, and Margo Klewans. Steve Buscemi and Wren Arthur of Olive Productions are exec producing.

Finnish filmmaker AJ Annila (“Sauna”) will make his English-language feature-film debut on the project, scripted by Jonathan Dees; 13 Films’ Tannaz Anisi is exec producing and representing international rights, which will go on sale at the Cannes Film Market. The producers hold the U.S. rights.

The story centers on a piano prodigy who hates practicing until he meets a music professor who recognizes the untapped potential in the adolescent boy — who increasingly suspects that his mentor is the serial killer that has been targeting musicians.

Nyqvist is most recognized for his role as Mikael Blomkvist in the original Swedish adaptation of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” trilogy alongside Noomi Rapace. He was last seen in “John Wick.”
