Knut Rose

Knut Rose (1936 - 2002) was active/lived in Norway.  Knut Rose is known for Existential post-war painting.

Knut Rose was a Norwegian artist who was a prominent exponent of existential post-war painting in Norway. He was highly visible and central on the Norwegian art scene throughout the 1970s. Rose's pictorial world was linked to humans and various interpersonal relationships, with a mixture of picturesque beauty and dramatic horror. He was a festival exhibitor in Bergen in 1978 and Norway's representative at the Biennale in Venice in 1981. Rose was vice-chairman of UKS 1964-65 and a member of the National Gallery's board 1978-81. He was a professor and rector at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he came to be of great importance to many younger painters. After he retired as a professor, he concentrated his energies on painting only. He is represented in a number of Norwegian museums and collections.
