For several decades, Bård Breivik (1948 - 2016) was a distinctive, profiled contemporary art of international format. He was initially a sculptor, but throughout his career was experimental and searching for new challenges, new types of materials and new artistic expressions. He was a driving force for a conception of art where the result should be marked by the work process itself, towards the result. He had significant pedagogical abilities; he was the initiator of several international sculptor symposia.

In 1990, he attracted attention with the exhibition Citaldel in Oslo, where the process-oriented stonemason Breivik manifested himself in full breadth. After this, he came to devote large parts of his enormous work capacity to art related to public space.

His expression is roughly treated stone of various kinds and stainless steel, the steel works produced in China. He has been preoccupied with the expression the encounter between running water and a hard rock give. This is expressed in Klosterenga sculpture park in Oslo, an ambitious decorating assignment that has been worked on for 30 years. Breivik has participated in some 70 art parades at home and abroad. He is represented in leading museums throughout Scandinavia.
