Golden Gate Bridge is one of the worlds most famous bridges, the suspension bridge connects San Francisco with Marin County in California in America.
Construction of the bridge started in 1933 and in 1937 the bridge was finished. Joseph Strauss was the chief engineer of the bridge, and were joined by architect Irving Morrow and engineer Charles Alton Ellis. The bridge was completed before schedule and under budget. Golden Gate Bridge is 2,737 meters long and the main span is 1280 meters. Bridge was the largest suspension bridge until 1964 and is today Americas second largest suspension bridge after the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
Golden Gate Bridge has only been closed three times since its opening in 1937, this is due to strong winds. The bridge has six driving lanes, and can adjust the number in each direction in the morning into town and there are four fields in, in the afternoon there are four lanes of the city.
