If you're one of those student types, you're going to need yourself a laptop. Take it from us, the minute summer runs out and you get back to school, anyone without a laptop is going to get laughed at, wedgied and called a dweeb.

That's why you might consider investing in this here 'back-to-school' laptop, the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727. It only costs between £275 and £350, depending on where you shop, and it'll do most things a modern student requires.

Okay, so it's not super quick, and the 1GB of RAM is hardly inspiring, but the 1.73GHz Celeron T1400 is nippy enough to cope with most things. There's a 120GB hard drive, too, which you could -- theoretically -- use to download around 30,000 MP3s, 175.5 DivX movies, or 120,000 high-resolution images. Legally, of course.

The screen's a 15.4-incher, pushing 1,280x800 pixels via a fairly rubbish Intel 965-based display adaptor. So there'll be no games playing for you, but that's probably a good thing if you want to pass your exams.

You can read more about it in this here PDF, or wait until next week for our full review to go live. Happy learning, kids. -Rory Reid
