It has been almost two decades since four onscreen best friends—who shared a magical pair of jeans—pulled at our heartstrings and taught us the importance of true friendship. Those four friends, in 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (adapted from the novels by Ann Brashares), were played by America Ferrera, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn—who, as it turns out, remain as close as ever.

On Wednesday, Ferrera reunited with her Traveling Pants crew over FaceTime to celebrate her Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, for her performance as Gloria in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

“Re-enactment for @ryanpierswilliams of when I got the news that I’m Academy Award nominated!!!!!! 😭😭😭 He was taking the kids to school so I was at home alone but he insisted on a re-do 😂. And then there was a lot of screaming with some of my sisters on FaceTime,” Ferrera captioned an Instagram post, which included screenshots of her chatting with close friends and loved ones on FaceTime, and a clip of her reenacting the moment she got the call for her husband, Ryan Piers Williams.

In the pic from her call with her Traveling Pants c0stars, Ferrera, Lively, Bledel, and Tamblyn are all seen smiling widely with excitement.

Ferrera also got together via FaceTime with Eva Longoria. The two stars have been longtime friends, and have recently supported one another at various events, even posing together on the red carpet while being honored at the 2023 Women in Film Honors.

“I’m still processing. Needless to say- wow! What a thing! Childhood dream realized. 😭🤯 Thank you @theacademy @barbiethemovie and the Queens Greta and Margot who we all know deserve everything for what they gifted the world! 💖,” Ferrera added in her caption.

The 2024 Oscar nominations were announced Tuesday. As you surely know, Ferrera and Ryan Gosling—our Ken—were nominated in the Supporting Actress and Actor categories, respectively, for their roles in Barbie, and the film is up for Best Picture. But director Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were snubbed—Gerwig not being nominated for Best Director, nor Robbie for Best Actress—despite Barbie’s record-breaking, chart-topping, world-changing year.

On Tuesday, after the announcement, Gosling lamented the situation in a passionate statement. “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film,” he said. “No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit, and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
