Controversial Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos is definitely a footballer who divides opinion.

The Colombia international joined Rangers for £1 million from Finland back in the summer of 2017, during Pedro Caixinha’s reign in Glasgow.

And although that transfer fee has proven to an absolutely stunning piece of business by the Scottish Premiership champions, the fiery hitman comes with quite a lot of baggage, too.

Between dismissals and attempts to quit Rangers, Morelos has infuriated even many Gers supporters over the years.

But it’s undeniable that the former Helsinki attacker is also quite a sensational goalscorer, on his day.

Morelos, whose nickname is El Buffalo, has netted over 100 goals for Rangers since arriving in Scotland.

And former Ibrox striker Tore Andre Flo has admitted to The Scottish Sun that he’s a major admirer of the player.

He said: “Morelos has been a really top signing for the club and, even now, he’s still scoring important goals. I like him. He scores different types of goals and in the big moments, he’s been there for Rangers.”

January on the horizon

With the transfer window set to open for the first time in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s reign as Rangers manager, the Dutchman is likely to experience what Steven Gerrard did with regards to Morelos.

Speculation about Morelos leaving Ibrox is inevitable but, as he has proven in recent weeks, he is absolutely massive for the Scottish giants.

Selling the South American is disastrous period because, remember, he’s a fiercely-prolific marksman, but offloading him in January would be truly killer.

Even with three months to find a better striker, it’s a big ask, but to replace Morelos’s goals in a single month is nigh-on impossible.

Whatever happens, it’s paramount that Rangers retain the Colombian’s services beyond the upcoming January window.
