Forbes is out with its annual rankings of the world’s richest billionaires, and Carlos Slim tops with $73 billion in net worth.
Slim, a Mexican telecom mogul who has been ranked the richest for the fourth consecutive year, is followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates at $67 billion and Spanish fashion executive Amancio Ortega at $57 billion, according to the magazine.
Among some notable names in technology are Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos, ranked 19th at $25.2 billion; Google’s Sergey Brin, ranked 21st at $22.8 billion; and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, ranked 66th at $13.3 billion.
In the entertainment industry, Rupert Murdoch of News Corp. ranked 91st with $11.2 billion of net worth, which is up from $8.3 billion from the previous year.
George Lucas (No. 346, $3.9 billion), Steven Spielberg (No. 423, $3.2 billion) and Oprah Winfrey (No. 503, $2.8 billion) all slotted in near the bottom, a nice problem to have.
Charlie Ergen of Dish Network came in 100th with $10.6 billion in net worth, up from $8.3 billion. And music mogul David Geffen ranked 198th with $6 billion in net worth. Cablevision’s Charles Dolan was No. 437th with $3.1 billion.
Other notables: John Malone (No. 198, $6 billion), Sumner Redstone (No. 267, $4.7 billion) and Mark Cuban (No. 613, $2.4 billion).
