Mt. Stetind - the South Pillar.

Guided climbing trip:

The South Pillar is probably one of the biggest classics in the area, giving you the absolut maximum score when it comes to a full climbing day out.

The trip has it all, a great view, beautiful climbing over slabs, dihedrals, cracks and chimneys. This trip will be remembrable for the rest of your life.

The return goes over the ridge, which is usually the normal route up Stetinden, so you basically get 2 for 1.

practical info

duration: approximately 10 - 15 hours.

level: to climb the South Pillar with its 13 pitches is a long trip and requires that you have been on some longer climbing trips before. The route is graded 5.10a (6a), but there are only a few pitches at the top of the route which are of difficulty level. The route progresses slowly from 5.3 (3) in the start, before it gets harder and harder towards the top. You should be able to climb 6a on sports climbing outside, either on top rope or during lead-climb. This route may require that we climb another route the day before, if there is uncertainty about experience and skills.

weather dependent: Yes, in case of bad weather there will be no trip. If weather permits, we could arrange a trip to "Hammarøyskaftet" or Mt.Eidetind instead.

place of attendance: We meet at the parking just outside the Stetind tunnel at Storelv. We start the trip at 05-08 AM, depending on weather conditions and the group.

We can be helpful with transportaion and accommodation if desired, please contact.
