This alga was found just beyond the intertidal zone. The plant has a thick and tufty appearance and it is paler at the apices. Since cross sections are circular and nowhere flattened (as would be typical for Furcellaria lumbricalis), since the tips are tapering abruptly (and not gradually) and since they are red in transmitting light (and not brown), it was IDed as Polyides rotunda.
