Description

Verbascum chaixii ‘Album’

Common name: Mullein, Velvet Plant

Number of seeds in packet: minimum 30

Tall spires of saucer-shaped, white flowers with mauve centres from May to August.

This variety is one of the most reliable and long-flowering varieties of verbascum.

The rosette of leaves can be semi-evergreen. Seeds sown in a cold frame in late spring or early summer produce rosettes of hairy, grey-green leaves and flowers the following year.

Perfect for a sunny border or for prairie planting.

In gardening and landscaping, the mulleins are valued for their tall narrow stature and for flowering over a long period of time, even in dry soils.

Grow well on poor, dry soils or recently disturbed ground.

They require a sunny spot and free-draining soil.

Ideal for gravel, cottage, mixed borders, prairie or naturalized or wild gardens.

Height: 0.5-1 metre.
Spread: 0.1-0.5 metres.
