A Chicago soldier and a Berwyn army sergeant were reported missing. Marine Pfc William G. Bowers, 21, of 214 N.

Calhoun Aurora, where he and his wife, Ramona, live with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Bowers, was wounded in the left leg and thigh.

A letter from his chaplain to his parents, however, said he was expected to recover. Bowers was drafted in August, 1951, sent to Korea last April and has been in almost constant combat with the 1st marine division. He married Ramona ISAAG SCHIFF, 90, EX-BANKER Isaac Schiff, 90, of 3452, Elaine a retired banker and mortgage broker, was killed yesterday when he was hit by a truck as he stepped from the curb into Hal-sted st. at Cornelia av. J. Sheppard and company, 1412 Alt-geld was held by Town Hall police. Schiff formerly headed the Independence State bank at Roosevelt rd. and Kedzie av. and his brother, the late Benjamin Schiff, headed the Schiff Savings bank at Roosevelt rd.

Shirley Spiegel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. tomorrow in the chapel at 5206 Broadway. James Strong, 32, of Crown Point, a truck driver for Sprout and Davis, of Whiting, admitted to police yesterday that his truck killed an elderly bicyclist Monday at 110 E.

103d The victim was Henry Streilein, 71, of 10148 Indiana a pensioned riveter. A passing motorist, hailed by Strong after the accident, summoned police. Strong told the police he saw the body in the street and stopped to lend aid but Detectives William Judge and Donald Verkler became skeptical later and asked Strong to return the Burnside station for further questioning. Driver Changes Story Strong changed his story. He said he was afraid to admit his truck struck Streilein.

He was charged with reckless homicide, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene. He is to appear for a Felony court hearing Dec. 5. Wesley Elerde, 54, of 2040 Dar-row Evanston, was taken to Harvard Community hospital, Harvard, with critical injuries after, the automobile in which he was riding was struck by a North Western train on route '173, in Chemung, McHenry county. Two others in the automobile suffered minor injuries.

Sabath HI. Who died Nov. 6 at the age of-86, left an estate estimated at $150, 000, it was disclosed yesterday when his will was filed with John W. Tauchen, chief of the Probate court. Rep.

Sabath left $5,000 to the Jewish Federation of Chicago, and $1,000 each to the Bohemian Old Peoples home, Orthodox Jewish home, and Bohemian Catholic institute. The will, dated Sept 23, 1949, left the remainder to his widow, Mae, of 113 N. Homan but a codicil dated last July 28, when he was hospitalized, bequeathed $5,000 each to 15 nieces and nephews. ILLINOIS LABOR DIRECTOR, DIES Succumbs After Heart Attack on Train San Bernardino, Nov. 19 Special Robert L. Gordon. 52, former Illinois state director of labor, died in a hospital here last night after suffering a heart attack on a train en route from Los Angeles to Tucson, Ariz.

Gordon, whose home was in Urbana, 111., had been visiting rel Gordon atives in Los Angeles. He and his wife, Edna, had planned to visit a ranch near Tucson before re turning to Illinois. He was director of labor in Illinois from 1946 to 1948 during the administration of Gov. Green. Apprenticed to Father Long prominent in Illinois labor, Gordon entered the union movement in his teens, when he was apprenticed to his father, E.

C. Gordon, a paint contractor. elder Gordon is retired and lives in Los Angeles. Gordon had held a number of offices in both the AFL Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators and Paperhangers of America, and in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He had been secretary and business representative of the painters' union in Champaign-Urbana, legislative representative for the trainmen's brotherhood, business representative of the Champaign County Building and Construction Trades council and president of the Twin-City Federation of Labor.

Defeated in Mayor's Race In addition, he was the labor member and former chairman of the Champaign county housing au- thority, and he had served five years as commissioner of public works for Urbana. In 1940 he was defeated in the Republican pri mary for mayor of Urbana. Rice, to his parents said he was expected to recover in a few weeks. Pfc. Samuel S. Wright, 23, Negro, of 323 W. 51st suffered a flesh wound in his right hand Nov.

,2, the director of a hospital in Korea notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wright. Young Wright was educated in Greenwood, and had been in Chicago six years. He was employed as a steel worker when drafted Sept.

7, 1951. He was sent to Korea last March. Pfc. George J. Semetges, 21, of the 31st infantry, 7th division, was reported to his mother, Mrs.

Katherine Semetges, tavern owner of 1311 W103d as missing in action Nov. 8. A letter from him just previously had told of fighting in the Triangle hill engagements. Semetges was drafted in November, 1951, while working in a chain store. He was sent to Korea late in June.

He was graduated from Fenger High school. His brother, Peter, 27, fought in World War II and now assists his widowed mother. Sgt. Edward Pavlak, 22, of 3301 Clarence Berwyn, who is reported missing, is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Pavlak, who came to Berwyn from Pana, Christian county, 20 years ago. They were notified Nov. 10 that he was missing after fighting in the Triangle hill section. Pavlak is a member of company 31st regiment, 7th infantry division. He was graduated from the J.

Sterling Morton High school in 1949 and was a factory worker for the Roth Manu facturing company when drafted in August, 1951. He landed in Ko rea last January. He has a twin brother, Joseph three other brothers, and a sister. SEIZE 4 PASTORS IN ROBBINS ON CHANGE OF LIBEL Four Robbips ministers were arrested last night by county highway police in the Greater Hope Baptist church, 13617 Lawndale and charged with libeling Carlos V. Deputies Ralph Strand and Edward Flynn served the warrants, signed by Lindsey, on the ministers at a church service attended by six other ministers and 150 other persons.
