Singer Marianne Faithfull has been hospitalized in London for treatment of COVID-19, leading to an outpouring of tributes on social media.
Her publicity firm confirmed the medical scare over the weekend.
“She is stable and responding to treatment,” Republic Media said in a Twitter post quoting her manager Francois Ravard. “We all wish her well and a full and speedy recovery.”
Ravard retweeted the post on his own profile.
Faithfull, 73, shot to stardom in the 1960s with her hit single “As Tears Go By” and had a much-publicized relationship with Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger.
The romance ended in 1970, and she suffered harrowing setbacks from heroin addiction and an eating disorder before the release of her critically acclaimed 1979 album Broken English.
“She survived The Rolling Stones, Homelessness & Heroin addiction she will survive COVID-19,” one fan tweeted Sunday.
