Description

Dendrobium kingianums commonly come in shades of pink or violet, but the white-flowered ones are much rarer, and stunning to behold.

One of the most interesting thing about alba flowers is the nature of the white color. You’d think that white is white, right? Wrong.

There’s a story about Steve Jobs obsessing over early prototypes of the iPhone — he said the black wasn’t black enough, and forced his team through backbreaking labors to achieve the desired shade of black. It worked.

We can look at white flower color the same way: there’s white, and then there’s WHITE. Some plants got it, and some don’t… And the ones that do completely mesmerize you with the purity of their whiteness.

White/alba kingianums definitely don’t disappoint!

It is super easy to grow, user-friendly, fragrant in bloom, fun, and a barrel of laughs, too! This is the perfect orchid for those who just struggle with growing, as it is very user-friendly, and can survive overwatering or underwatering. It is definitely HARD TO KILL!

In the wild, D. kingianum grows in the eastern part of Australia where it clings to rocky surfaces or trees. D. kingianum has a number of great qualities, making it a great addition to any orchid collection:

When D. kingianum gets to specimen size, it can produce hundreds of wonderfully fragrant flowers, a very impressive sight (and smell)!

Be sure to give this a winter rest, with reduced watering around late October/November, and a good cool stretch to let the plant set its buds for the spring blooming season.
