There are plenty of places in and near Oslo where you can ski at the moment, and we highly recommend getting out and test the various alpine ski centers. All research says that nature is good for you!

Several of the ski resorts and hills in the Oslo region are perfect for beginners and will offer courses for newbies, while others are more remote and may even be close to more advanced randonée routes. All within 2 hours from Oslo!

Three reasons for why down hill skiing is good for you!

SKIMORE OSLO
The largest alpine ski center to Oslo will be Skimore, located on the west side of Oslo in the area of Tryvann.
Skimore Oslo has 11 lifts, 18 slopes and a drop of 381 meters, and all slopes are floodlit. The ski and snowboard facility has something for everyone: simple slopes in the beginner area, its own slope style line and wide slopes that are perfect for families and carving.
Offers: Ski school, ski and equipment rental, workshop and café.
How to get there?
There are two entrances, Wyller in Sørkedalen and Tryvann above Holmenkollen. The entire facility is connected by chair lifts.
If you have small children, we recommend access to the facility via Tryvann. If, on the other hand, you are a little experienced, it is much easier to get a place in Wyller.
Randonée? There are routes available, mind the other skiiers.
By public transport:
You can take the tram and bus with Ruter, to either of the entrances; choose between the main ski center (Toppsenteret) or to Wyller.
When using the Ruter app, look up "Tryvann" to get to the ski center, and "Wyllerløypa" for the Wyller entrance.

NOREFJELL SKI RESORT
Norefjell ski resort has Northern Europe's largest drop height in the lift system, and consists of 14 lifts, 30 slopes and slopes suitable for all levels. Both beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders can find great skiing pleasure here. At Norefjell, they also offer fun activities and great experiences for the whole family.
This is the highest of the alpine ski centers and have randonée trails if you are interested.
The center offers ski rental and ski shops, along with ski school. Lots of restaurants and accommodation are also avaliable in Norefjell and the vicinity.

By public transport:
There are several options for transportation, either from the Oslo Airport or from the Oslo area. See more about public transport here.
By car:
Norefjell Ski Center is 90 minutes from Oslo by car, and parking is easily found when arriving at the ski center. See here for Google Maps.
SNØ
Did you know that the world’s only year-round arena that unites cross-country skiing, snowboarding, alpine, freeski and ice climbing under the same roof, is in the Oslo region?
Check out SNØ, an indoor ski arena where you can train all year long and improve your ski skills. The center offers rental and ski, snowboard, cross country and ice climbing sessions, as well as restaurants and shops for your ski-needs. There is also an event calendar (link) which could be worth checking out!
How to get there:
Public transport:
Choose public transport when you are travelling to SNØ. You can choose bus or train to Lørenskog station, and walk the 500 meters distance from there to SNØ.
By car:
A 15 minutes drive north of Oslo or a 30 minutes drive south of Gardermoen, right next to the E6, you find SNØ. Follow the signs as you approach Lørenskog. Check Google Maps for parking (link)

SKIMORE KONGSBERG
Skimore Kongsberg consists of 5 lifts, including a 4-seater express lift, with a total capacity of 7,200 people per hour. There are hills in Kongsberg for all tastes, from demanding to very easy. There is a separate children’s area with a child-friendly lift, which ensures well-being for the little ones.
Kongsberg is known as an eldorado for snowboarders and jibbers, and of course has its own terrain park.

VARINGSKOLLEN ALPINE SKI CENTER
Varingkollen alpine center (link) is one of the largest alpine centers you will find in Oslo area! Varingskollen is in the idyllic Hakadal, only 30 minutes from central Oslo, with varied slopes for all skill levels.
Here you can find Alpine skiing, Terrain park, Childrens area, Skischool, Tobogganing, Cross country, Randonee (training routes).
How to get there:
Public transport:
Take VY train R31 towards Hakadal, and get off at "Varingskollen stasjon". Get off at station, and the slopes are just 50 m from the station.
By car:

SKIMORE DRAMMEN
Skimore Drammen is a great facility for anyone who enjoys skiing or snowboarding. The ski center is perfectly located on the sunny side of Drammen and easily becomes a favorite among families with children. The ski center has 4 km of slopes, 300 m altitude difference and is very family friendly.
How to get there
Skimore Drammen is located on the north side of the Drammen river and west of the city center. There are limited parking spaces, and public transportation is highly recommended.
Public Transport:
The 10 minute bus runs from Drammen ever 3-4 times an hour, and the bus stops right outside the ski center. The stop of the Ski Center is called “Turheisen”.

OSLO SKISENTER GREFSENKOLLEN
Oslo Skisenter Grefsenkollen is a small ski center focused on more family friendly slopes. It is easily located at Grefsenkollen, with Trollstua, a Norwegian "varmestue", a cafe where you can sit down for a quick bite and drink to heat up when it's cold outside. The center offers ski rental and several organizations have ski lessons at this venue. Nearby is also the Grefsenkollen restaurant, with magnificent view of Oslo.
How to get there
There are two "entrances" to the ski center, one at Trollstua (where the skirental is), on the way up Grefsenkollen, and the other at Grefsenkleiva, on the "back side" of Grefsenkollen.
By public transport:
Trollstua: Take bus 56 to Trollveiskrysset, and walk uphill 12 min (bus 56B on the weekends will stop outside the ski center)
Grefsenkleiva: Take bus 31 to Stig, og bus 32 ot 33 to Østreheimsveien, and it will be a few minutes walk (from either places)
By car:
There is a 400 car parking lot at Trollstua, and there are more parking opportunities on the top of Grefsenkollen where you can access the slopes directly.

KOLSÅS SKI CENTER
Kolsås ski center (link) is located on the east side of Kolsåstoppen, 10 minutes from Bekkestua. It is one of the largest alpine facilities in Bærum and have slopes for the whole family. You can rent skis and snowboard at the center, and they have their own ski school.

SKI HURDAL
Ski Hurdal (link) is Akershus' largest ski resort, about 30 minutes north of Oslo Airport Gardermoen. The resort has 11 runs spread over 3 lifts, as well as its own children's slopes and toboggan run.
They have nice family trails, children's slopes, ski cross, black trail - here you will find something for both young and old!

KIRKERUDBAKKEN SKI CENTER
Kirkerudbakken Ski Center (link), is one of Asker and Bærum's largest ski resorts, and has varied slopes for all skill levels. Offers terrain park with rails and jumps! Has a cafeteria for a bite to eat, and you can rent ski equipment at the center.

MARIKOLLEN SKI CENTER
Marikollen Ski Resort is a great alpine ski resort located in Rælingen municipality, 20 minutes from the center of Oslo, and 8 minutes from the center of Lørenskog.
The cener offers great slopes for the whole family, as well as ski school. They have also a BagJump for snowboarders and free skiers (link). The idyllic Marikollen is located in Rælingen municipality in Viken and offers also great cross country opportunities.

KJERRINGÅSEN ALPINE SKI CENTER
Kjerringåsen alpine center is Østfold's largest alpine ski resort with 3 lifts and 5 runs, with a height difference of up to 125m. Here, everything is ready for play and fun for families, for both snowboard, down hill skiing and more.
Offers ski rental and school.
