Ramonda nathaliae, a gesneriad that is endemic to the Balkan mtns. Not only can this species tolerate extreme desiccation (hence it is known as a 'resurrection plant') it can also cope w/very high levels of toxic heavy metal ions in the soil. African Violets are in the same family. ~AR
