The original colours for this mitten in Haavisto’s book are black and red on white. There are other combinations used as well which include green and red on white. The pattern on the palm has had different constructions used than the rose pattern. As for the folk patterns in general: the makers didn’t want to make exact copies but made little changes to make the patterns their own.
