The Cosmos atrosanguineus, also known as the chocolate cosmos is a dark red to maroon-dark brown perennial native to Mexico. Like many chocolates they have a light vanillin fragrance. This herbaceous perennial deserves a sunny and sheltered place in your garden. Do make sure you provide water to the newly planted roots. This cosmos is sensitive to frost, which makes it is important to dig up the roots after the blooming period and save the roots in a dry place, free of frost.
