Description

Although naturally a plant found only in North America  much of the recent breeding in Anemonella has been in Japan where this new variety was raised. KikuZaki has lovely semi-double flowers not unlike miniature Chrysanthemums (Kiku is Japanese for Chrysanthemum, though there is also a Kikuzaki nursery).

The flowers of this superb new variety are not as full as Oscar Schoaff, but are very beautiful in their own right. The shade of pink is somewhere between Oscar Schoaff and the paler Cameo, as is the floral structure.

It bears 1-4 flowers per wiry stem with the finely divided, deep green foliage. Despite the delicate appearance of  Anemonella, they are tough little plants and their early flowering means that the blooms stay in good condition, in the cool weather of early spring, for some weeks.

Part- or half-shade is best, in a well-drained but humus enriched soil which doesn’t dry out too much. It can be managed in pots, in the alpine house is wished, but beware too much direct sunshine or dryness.
