Description

Short stems of slightly hairy, leathery leaves and pendant bells of softest cream-yellow. The flowers are larger and creamier than the related D. hookeri with longer, less outwardly curved petals so that the flowers are more of an elongated, tubular bell, than a spreading hand-bell.

The flowers are followed by long lasting, bright orange, slightly angular, polished autumnal berries. These are very different to those of the superficially similar (and much confused) Disporum hookeri (which are red not orange, and hairy not smooth).

Easy and very long lived in a humus rich soil in light shade, but this is a tolerant plant, all the easier once its wiry roots are well established.
