Art - Change
Artist: Carl Nesjar (1997).
The sculpture consists of a steel construction in the shape of a twisted square. It rotates slowly in a pool and changes its character according to the seasons. It is an ice sculpture in winter, a water sculpture in summer. Laser lighting inside the construction reinforces the impression. Nesjar has been a pioneer in linking art with modern technology, and he has gained international recognition for his year-round fountains. The fountain was a gift to Trondheim from Statoil on the occasion of the city’s millennium celebrations in 1997.
