Description

One of the most common Erodiums. The name ‘malacoides’ refers to the soft leaves of the Malva sylvestris (Common Mallow) that it resembles.

Grows on dry, rocky soil along paths and roads.

Flowers

The long flower stalks carry pinkish-purple flowers with 5 petals and 5 stamens in umbels of 3-8 flowers. The long, pointed sepals are visible between the petals.

Elliptic oval leaf, Reniform kidney-shaped leaf. Oval to kidney-shaped, undulated, lightly lobed, soft, hairy.

Fruits Seeds

Achene: 5 seeds with beak, 3.5 cm.
