1. Reese Witherspoon had the time of her life. She was masquerade-ready and carried what appeared to be a feathered mask everyone got upon arriving to the premiere. Andie MacDowell had one too.
2. Leo looked ~*H-O-T*~. Need I say more?
3. He looked hot even though his collar was way too big. It was the ‘90s.
4. Leo had a date: model Kristen Zang. And so it begins … I was jealous of her perfect bangs and her Burberry skirt. But most of all, I was jealous of her yearlong relationship with Leo.
5. Leo also brought his mama. And Irmelin looked divine in leopard print. <3
6. Everclear was there. They were featured on the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, which was my favorite CD in 1996 and 1997.
7. Cameron Diaz was already in her There’s Something About Mary phase. I guess leopard was really big that year.
8. Leo and Claire took a lot of awkward photos together. You guys, it’s not class photo day. Are these the same people behind the pool scene? What’s with the awk?
9. Richard from Melrose Place was the hottest thing on TV. What’s Patrick Muldoon up to these days? Does anyone know?
10. Denise Richards had the most perfect hair. Look, another feathered mask thing!
11. Claire Danes’s hair was very ‘90s. She deserved better. She’s the freaking star of the movie, for crying out loud.
12. Neve Campbell was all sorts of goth chic. The Craft came out earlier that year and Party of Five had just premiered its third season. I miss Party of Five.
13. ~*Hot Leo Break*~.
14. Like Reese Witherspoon, Elisabeth Shue was also in the best mood. She was all smiles on the carpet. (Come on Elisabeth, it’s a drama).
15. Vince Vaughn was young and hot AF. Yep.
16. Red Ross was actually really blue. David Schwimmer was the only Friend who showed up. There is just so. Much. Blue.
17. John Leguizamo, who played Tybalt, was just lovely. It’s like he’s wearing wrapping paper.
18. Blair Underwood had a mustache. Also, was L.A. really cold that fall? Why is everyone wearing winter coats and hats?
19. Jenny McCarthy made faces and wore purple pants.
20. One more awkward photo for the road. Romeo + Juliet forever.
Nov. 1 marks the 20th anniversary of Romeo + Juliet.
